How many of you remember that delicious hard chocolate shell enveloping your summer ice cream cones of childhood? It’s hard to believe, but Memorial Day weekend is almost here and this ice cream topping is a perfect way to celebrate summer.
2 cups dark chocolate chips
1/2 cup coconut oil
optional: 2 tbs. bourbon or 1 tbs. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. crunchy sea salt or sea gris
In a medium heavy saucepan, melt the chocolate and coconut oil over low heat. Stir in the bourbon or vanilla and salt. Stir until everything is melted and and combined. When ready to serve, scoop your ice cream and pour about 1/4 cup warm sauce over the scoop. Wait 30 minutes until hard. Enjoy!
If saving for the future dessert, pour into a sealable container or jar and refrigerate for up to 1 week. Gently reheat before using.
